Honda Takeshi, a former neighbor of mine in Tono, is having a solo show of his charcoal drawings at Galerie Pousse, in Tokyo, just off the Ginza. The exhibit features work from his ongoing series Walking in the Mountains, which explores the ever-changing facets of life in Tono, Iwate Prefecture. In a recent email, Honda mentioned that the community center across the road from his rural home is now housing volunteers working in the disaster area on the Iwate coast.
