A Treat from Ryosuke Cohen

I received a nice surprise from mail artist Ryosuke Cohen. He has been doing his Brain Cell Fractal project for many years. For more about his project, visit http://www.h5.dion.ne.jp/~cohen/info/ryosukec.htm.

good girls, bad girls

The Helen Gurley Brown quotation felt just right for this vintage card touting a local rest stop. I sent it to Mrpotani, but it seems to have been lost in the mail.

A Dutch postcrosser got a kick altering this "real Dutch sheep" with the addition of Dutch tulips, ocean view, and flags.

Baseball Cards

First full day back in the studio I didn't feel like getting back into my paintings. Instead I made a series of 6 postcards on Japanese ballplayers. From top to bottom: Ichiro, Matsuzaka and Darvish. The cards in the left column are painted with watercolors and coated with fine glitter; those in the right column are watercolored and overlaid with hairnet.

Altered Thanks

We celebrated Audrey F's birthday a few weeks ago at Cheryl Burke dance studio. Audrey sent this fabulous stickered and double-sided altered card as a thank you.

Flora-themed Postcard from Jacqueline

Sepia postcard made from 1950's ikebana photograph

Reconfigured torn photograph overlaid on aborted postcard, embellished with India ink, fabric paint and torn word fragments. Texture feels like scarred flesh. Wonderful!

about-to-be-altered card

A couple of Dutch postcrossers, one of whom works in a hospital, sent this clever postcard. All of the design elements peel off to turn your mouse into an ambulance. On the back of the card, the couple attached a mini-photo of a wren they sighted on a walk the day they sent the card. A red letter day for me.

once again stamps

Fabulous, fabulous stamps from a Finnish postcrosser who used a vintage (well, pre-euro) stamp of midsummer roses on a vintage postcard. The charming stamp of the little girl blowing a traditional birch bark horn, once used by cowherds, is more recent but looks vintage.

Love the Yiching pot in these stamps from a Chinese postcrosser.

A Czech postcrosser sent this nifty selection of stamps.

Google tells me that Arrowtown is an old gold mining town, known for its spectacular scenery.

The striking design of this Polish stamp celebrates astronomy.

Love these stamps from Croatia.

And these familiar ones from Brasil.
