Nearly missed these gorgeous stamps commemorating the Mercury and Messenger Projects. The astronaut is Alan Shepard, who became the first American in space on May 5, 1961. The rocket Messenger became the first spacecraft to orbit Mercury, in March, 2011. I love space stamps and these are spectacular!
