Tokyo friend Keiko sent this card congratulating me on the Phillies' World Championship. She wrote that when manager Charlie Manuel played in Japan some 30 years ago, he was called Manieru ojisan, or Uncle Manuel. In Philadelphia he's often been called Uncle Charlie.
