roundabout altereds

A Croatian postcrosser who now lives in Italy sent this card of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Though she said she didn't quite get the idea of altered cards or how to make one, she put what looks like torn pieces of a paper napkin to effective use on this one. Good job!

A Finnish postcrosser studying in Germany sent this cool card. She wrote that she went to a card shop for inspiration to make an altered card. She found this newspaper postcard and taped fragments from German newspapers to it. Clever!

These two cards arrived in the same post. A red letter day! I hope the senders enjoyed making them as much I enjoyed getting them.

Super Moomin.

From Russia with color.

Love is in the air.

Kitty strikes again.

Love how the postmark pulls it all together.

amusing nestlings

Stork nests always thrill me. One filled with nestlings is only that much better. A Russian postcrosser sent this card.

split

Just because I'm not likely ever to make it to Split. Thanks to the Croatian postcrosser who sent this card.

mountain climbing in estonia

An Estonian postcrosser made this cool card, which incorporates an index of photos of her and her university mates. She wrote that she has to practice rock-climbing on a wall because there are no mountains in Estonia.

This pretty basket of roses is the first card sent by a Finnish postcrosser, a busy working mom.

Torn & Taped

From a postcrosser in Great Britain, this card was torn and taped back together. Fabu!

Collage Card from Dar es Salaam

This is my first postcrossing card from Tanzania. The Mama Africa sticker is from his wife's bar, Fursa Ltd refers to his company that he recently started with friends and it means Opportunities. The bus ticket is to his girlfriend's place. Quite a busy dude!

Plywood Greetings

A Norwegian postcrosser sent this card made of plywood and covered with napkins. The stamps she included on the reverse were exceptional as well.

Dem Dry Bones

Artist Cosette Dudley sent me this card, which describes her painful broken shoulder. She had planned to attend the Los Angeles Women Artists on Immigration show (her work was accepted) but the injury just prior to the reception prevented her from going. She has been going through physical therapy that leaves her exhausted. She hopes to regain use of her arm, shoulder and hand by the end of 2009. Her goal is to be able to use her press and do printmaking again. With her determination, I'm sure she'll achieve it.

Winchester Post Office

Winchester, MA's post office looks a bit pompous out front but the back looks grittier and far more interesting.

beautiful formosa

A Taiwanese postcrosser doing military duty sent this beautiful postcard of a 1765 map of Formosa printed on linen. Formosa, which means beautiful island, was the former name of Taiwan. A great card! It even has a piece of Chinese contemporary poetry on the back, not that I am able to read it. The water ox stamp is perfect.
